Compost Collection Services
Compost collection for 2015 begins in Early April and continues through the end of November. Collection will occur weekly on your regularly scheduled solid waste collection day.

The City of Plymouth provides composting disposal services for all city residents. This is at no additional cost to residents and is used as a way to dispose of grass clippings, leaves, and other yard waste.

Yard Waste Disposal
The recommended way to dispose of your grass clippings, leaves, and other yard waste is to mulch the material. When these materials are mulched and left on the lawn, the natural waste recycling system is put to work. Mulching also saves you time, money, and energy. The grass clippings also work as a natural fertilizer and they do not cause thatch.

Composting materials are no longer accepted in landfills and cannot be collected in plastic bags.

Container Information
The City of Plymouth requires all compost materials be placed in a 32-gallon container marked “compost only” or Kraft-type brown paper bags specifically used for yard waste. Containers or bags must not exceed 50 pounds and must be manageable by one individual. Dirt is often mistaken for compost. This is not true since dirt is in its primary state.

Conditions which compost is not accepted is yard waste mixed with solid waste or recyclables, dirt rocks, and/or sod.
