Automated Trash Collection
Program & Fee Information
The city implemented the Automated Solid Waste Collection Program in June of 2005 in hopes of having a safer and more convenient operation than the previous manual methods of trash collection.

This system uses a standard 65-gallon cart on wheels. The carts are strong and sturdy and have a lid to reduce bad odors and keep the animals and pests out. The carts are emptied by a truck equipped with an automated articulating arm without the driver ever having to leave the cab.

The monthly or quarterly trash fee that appears on your water bill is as follows: Monthly billings beginning July 1, 2013 the fee is $10.00 per trash cart while the quarterly billing is $30.00 per trash cart.

How it Works
  • Place the container as close to the curb or roadside as possible with the wheels of the cart facing towards your house.
  • The container must have a 3 foot clearance from parked cars, mailboxes, etc.
  • Keep the lid closed
  • Do not overfill the cart or pack the trash in too tightly
  • Do not place hazardous materials, construction debris, compost, or recycling in the cart.
Solid waste must be at curbside by 6:00 am on your scheduled collection day or it may result in no pick up.

Holiday Collection Schedule
Unless you are notified otherwise, there will be no collection on the following six holidays:
  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

When the holiday falls on a weekday, there will be no collections on that day, and the rest of that week’s refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection will be one day later than usual. If the holiday falls on a weekend, your collection day will not be affected.
